23 Years Teaching at Omega Institute | Why Embodied Healing Matters More Than Ever

For 23 years, I’ve had the honor of teaching at Omega Institute—and I can honestly say it continues to be one of the most meaningful parts of my life and work.

Every time I return, I feel it: the beauty of the land, the openness of the students, the deep permission to slow down, listen inward, and remember what matters.

And after more than two decades of guiding workshops at Omega, one truth has only become clearer:

People are hungry for real connection, real healing, and real joy.

Not surface-level inspiration.
Not more information to scroll past.
But embodied transformation—something they can feel in their breath, their body, their relationships, and their daily lives.

That is why this work matters.
And it’s why I keep coming back.

Why Teaching at Omega Has Been So Powerful

Omega is not just a retreat center. It’s a place where people come to reset their nervous systems, reconnect with themselves, and return to their lives with more clarity and vitality.

Over the years, I’ve taught students from all walks of life—therapists, caregivers, artists, professionals, people in transition, people in grief, people on the edge of burnout, and people simply longing to feel more alive again.

Many arrive tired, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their bodies.

And then something begins to shift.

Through movement, mindfulness, nervous system support, expressive practices, and compassionate community, they start to soften. They breathe differently. They move differently. They begin to trust themselves again.

That shift is why I teach.

What I’ve Learned in 23 Years of Leading Workshops

After 22 years of teaching at Omega Institute, I’ve learned that healing rarely happens through pressure.

It happens through presence.

It happens when people feel safe enough to exhale.
When they are invited—not pushed—into awareness.
When they can experience joy without guilt, movement without performance, and connection without having to pretend they are “fine.”

Again and again, I’ve seen what becomes possible when we tend to the body and the nervous system with kindness:

  • stress begins to loosen

  • creativity returns

  • emotions move instead of getting stuck

  • people rediscover resilience they thought they’d lost

  • joy becomes accessible again

This is the heart of my work, and it is at the center of every retreat I teach.

Why This Matters Now More Than Ever

We are living in a time of chronic stress, overstimulation, isolation, and emotional exhaustion.

So many people are functioning—but not truly thriving.

They are productive, responsible, and high-achieving… while feeling depleted, anxious, numb, or disconnected underneath.

This is exactly why embodied healing practices matter.

When we bring together movement, mindfulness, emotional awareness, creativity, and nervous system regulation, we create the conditions for genuine change—not just a temporary boost.

At Omega, students don’t just “learn concepts.” They experience themselves in a new way.

They remember that healing can be relational.
That joy is not frivolous—it is medicine.
That the body is not the enemy—it is a guide.
That slowing down can actually help us move through life with more strength and clarity.

What Students Often Tell Me After a Workshop

Over the years, I’ve heard versions of these reflections again and again:

  • “I feel like myself again.”

  • “I didn’t realize how much stress I was carrying.”

  • “I can breathe more deeply.”

  • “I feel more hopeful.”

  • “I have tools I can actually use at home.”

  • “I came here exhausted and I’m leaving reconnected.”

That is what I hope for every student: not perfection, but reconnection.

If You’ve Been Thinking About Coming to Omega…

Maybe you’ve been craving a reset.
Maybe you’ve been carrying too much for too long.
Maybe you want to feel more energy, joy, and ease in your body.
Maybe you want meaningful tools for stress relief, resilience, and emotional well-being.

If so, I would love to welcome you.

Whether you’re returning or considering your first Omega workshop, please know this: you do not need to arrive “ready” or “good at” anything.

You just need to arrive as you are.

For 23 years, I’ve witnessed the power of what happens when people gather with intention, compassion, and a willingness to listen to their own inner wisdom.

It is never just a workshop.
It is often a turning point.

And I would be honored to share that experience with you.
